There are a different modes of transportation which you can opt for to get to Krabi from Koh Samui. As with anywhere in Thailand when it comes to travelling just “sabai sabai” meaning just take it easy. Travelling around Thailand can be an amazing experience but as with any time consuming journey you can get bored and frustrated. So with that in mind, which mode of transportation you use is all down to your own personal preferances, budget and time frame.

How To Get From Koh Samui To Krabi – The Cheapest Options
The cheapest but most time consuming option is to get the ferry from Koh Samui then catch a bus to Krabi bus terminal.
There are two companies to go with if you are going to book the full journey in advance (which is recommeded) where you wont have to worry about catching a bus when you get off the ferry as there will be one waiting for you.

Option 1. you can go with Phantip Travel where you catch a ferry from Nathon Pier in Koh Samui then one of their buses when you arrive at the mainland. This is the cheapest option and typically costs around ฿ 600-700 ($15-20) all included and the journey takes around 5 hours.
Option 2. You can go with Lomprayah. This journey is slightly more expensive costing around ฿ 1000-1,200 ($30-35). The journey is 1 hour less because the Lomprayah ferries are go a bit faster.
Although going by land takes the longest amount of time, it still isn’t too far of a drive (approx 2hrs 30 min) and the plus side is that you will see some amazing scenery on the way to Krabi.
Go At Your Own Pace Or Get A Taxi
You can get the ferry to Don Sak and decide where to go from there, maybe you would prefer to stop off at a little Thai town along the way, the choice is yours. There are more than often minibuses and private meter taxis (still best to negotiate a price) at the ferry port where you book a taxi if you’d prefer to travel solo in your own cab. This take around the same amount of time but will be more expensive. It could cost anywhere between 3000 – 5000 baht depending on whether the taxi driver is willing to negotiate or not.

How To Get From Koh Samui To Krabi – The Luxurious Way
You can hire a more luxurious private vehicle on sites such as 12go where it’s still the same amount of time and same process (driving) but your driver is there to tend to your needs, stopping off as much as you want and you will be in a more spacious luxurious vehicle. It takes around the same amount of time and costs anywhere inbetween 7,000 and 10,000 baht depending on what vehicle you choose.

How To Get From Koh Samui To Krabi – The Quickest Option
The fastest option is to fly directly from Koh Samui International Airport to Krabi. The flights take less than an hour and typically cost 4,000 – 6,000 baht. This route may be best suited for those who are impatient or are in a hurry or simply dont like long journeys.
In conclusion there is a mode of transportation suited for all preferances and budgets. If you are feeling adventurous and want to see more of Thailand then going by land will be the best option. On the other hand if you’d rather get there as quick as possible then your best option is to fly.
