Hin Ta And Hin Yai Rocks

Hin-Ta and Hin-Yai, also known as Grandpa and Grandma, are a set of large boulders located along the shoreline. These boulders have earned their names due to their shape resembling male and female genitalia. The Grandpa and Grandma structures are a popular tourist attraction, attracting crowds of visitors.

The area around Grandpa and Grandma has developed a significant tourist infrastructure, including a souvenir market selling beachwear, handmade items made from sea shells and coconut shells, natural coconut cosmetics, and vibrant sarongs. Visitors can also grab a refreshing fruit shake or coconut drink in the market. There is a paid parking lot available near the market.

Located at the southern end of Lamai Beach, Hin-Ta and Hin-Yai can be easily accessed by taking the ring road (4169). Simply look for the board with the inscription “Hin-Ta Hin-Yai” and turn in the direction indicated beneath the board.

While the Grandpa and Grandma structures are a result of natural formation, visitors often use their imagination to see multiple Grandmas. The site is a testament to the power of the human mind and the ability to see beyond what is physically present.
